November 2008 - A Tradition Begins

Pu'uwai Canoe Club held its first ever sprint triathlon fundraising event November 9, 2008.  It was a beautiful day in Poipu on the south shore of Kauai with 82 entries for the event. The race started off with a 500 meter swim, followed by a 14 mile bike, and a 5K run  Participants included individuals completing all legs of the race, and teams having different members completing each leg.  The turn out was impressive, including athletes ranging from the experienced to the novice. Everyone had a great time and enjoyed the experience of Kauai's only triathlon. A huge "Mahalo" to all those who participated in the race, as well as those working tirelessly in the background to make this a fun and successful event.

February 2009 - It Keeps Getting Better

We held our second sprint triathlon on February 8, 2009.  Once again, the course was anchored around Poipu Beach Park on the south shore of Kauai including a 750 meter swim, a 14 mile bike, and a 5K run.  This race had many more individual participants than we had at the first event, as well as a good number of team entries competing.  Various improvements in the race course and the addition of professional timing services made for a smoother and more enjoyable event for all.  Other highlights included increased safety support, and an awards ceremony recognizing all participant categories.  As always, a big "Mahalo" to all of you who came out to join in the fun, and also to all of our volunteers who worked so hard to make this event possible.

July 2009 - More People, More Choices, More Fun

Our latest triathlon event was held July 26, 2009.  Mahalo to everyone for their participation, and for helping to make this our most successful event yet!  There were over 190 entries, and over 240 participants overall. In addition to the triathlon, we incorporated a new 5K Fun Run/Walk which was very well received.  We sent out a survey to all those who provided us with an email address, and want to thank those of you who have responded already.  We appreciate the feedback, and will do our best to make the next event even better.  Hope to see you next time!

November 2009 - Wrapping Up Our First Full Year

What a great day!  What a great year!   We wrapped up our first full year with the Fall event on November 22, 2009.  Mahalo to everyone who helped make this another successful event. We had a great turn out with some new wrinkles including a guest speaker and a vendor exhibition booth.  We continued with the 5K Fun Run/Walk which was well-received once again.  We simply could not do this without all of our wonderful competitors and volunteers.   Thanks for your support, and see you all in 2010!
